Surrounded by their loved ones, Kristy and Wayne’s special day felt like a perfect balance between classic charm and contemporary romance.
From the moment Kristy walked down the aisle in her breathtaking ball gown, the day unfolded with elegance and grace. For the reception, the couple’s style evolved seamlessly, with Kristy changing into a stunning mermaid gown that complemented the vibrant and lively atmosphere of the evening. Tell us a bit about yourself how did you meet?
Wayne and I met in July 2016 when mutual friends brought us together at a pre-clubbing gathering at Wayne’s apartment. What began as a casual gathering quickly became something special. From that night on, we were inseparable. We quickly became best friends and inevitably fell in love. Before we knew it, weeks turned into months, and months turned into years. Along the way, we discovered our shared love for food and travel, which has made our journey together even more special.
Can you share your engagement story with us?
In April 2022, Wayne planned the most beautiful surprise for me. A secret picnic at Captain Burke Park with our closest friends. Little did I know, it was all leading up to the moment he got down on one knee and asked me to spend the rest of our lives together. It was such a magical and unforgettable moment, and of course, I said YES!
What made you choose Westin for your reception?
We chose the Westin for our reception because it perfectly captured the elegance and warmth we wanted for our special day. The stunning venue and exceptional service made it the ideal place to celebrate our love story with all the people who mean the most to us.
Did you have a specific theme in mind? And how did you find your inspiration?
We wanted our wedding to feel timeless and romantic, with a theme centred on white flowers and greenery, along with subtle gold details. We also included candles to add a warm, romantic glow. Our inspiration came from the beauty of minimalist elegance and the charm of classic decor. Our stylist did an incredible job translating this vision into reality, using white flowers, gold details, and the soft ambiance of candles to create a celebration that was both refined and personal.
Tell us about your outfits, they are stunning
For the ceremony, I chose a ball gown-style dress with off-shoulder sleeves and detailed beadwork, capturing the fairy-tale ending I envisioned for our love story. The design made me feel like a princess as I walked down the aisle. For the reception, I went with a mermaid-style dress featuring a fishtail and lace detailing, which was modern and fun, perfectly complementing the lively atmosphere of the evening. Both dresses reflected different aspects of our celebration, from classic romance to vibrant celebration.
A moment you will cherish forever:
Our first dance is a moment I’ll cherish forever. It felt like time stopped, and it was just the two of us, wrapped up in each other and the love from all our family and friends. It was one of those moments where you just feel pure joy.
Let´s talk about your flowers, did you have a specific idea in mind?
We wanted mostly white blooms, accented by lush green leaves and delicate touches of gold. The idea was to create a classic atmosphere that complemented our overall theme. The florist did a fantastic job bringing this vision to life, with arrangements that were both beautiful and perfectly aligned with the essence of our celebration.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give other brides to be when it comes to styling their special day?
Stay true to what feels right for you and your partner. It’s your day, so let it reflect your love story. Trust your stylist and don’t stress too much over the little things. What matters most is that you enjoy every moment. It goes by so quickly, so take it all in and make it yours!
