Wollongong City Beach (also known as South Beach)

Wollongong City Beach, a jewel in the city’s coastline, extends for 3.1 km to the south and with the nearby 5 Star City Beach Function Centre, it’s a great place to hold your Wollongong City Beach wedding.


Coolangatta Estate is situated on the South Coast of Shoalhaven Heads and is a gorgeous Country Wedding Venue, Winery and Accommodation all in one. Coolangatta Estate exudes enormous charm from a bygone era with its history stretching back to the early 19th Century. Set on acres of beautifully manicured gardens and sweeping vineyard and mountain views.


North Wollongong Beach – North Wollongong Beach (This beach is commonly referred to as North Beach)

Picturesque North Beach with its gorgeous golden sands is perfect for weddings and just footsteps away from restaurants, café’s and the award winning Novotel Wollongong Northbeach.


Wollongong Headland Lighthouse 

Wollongong Headland Lighthouse also known as Flagstaff Lighthouse or Flagstaff Point Light, is an active lighthouse which overlooks the Tasman Sea to the east, and stunning City Beach to the south, and with its beautifully manicured lawns and magnificent views, it’s a perfect wedding destination. There are three areas to choose from, Cannons, lighthouse and flagstaff centre.


Windang Beach, Fern Street, Windang

Windang Beach is located at the entrance to Lake Illawarra, 15 kilometres south of Wollongong’s city centre. It offers spectacular views of the famous Five Islands off the Wollongong coastline.  The beach is very popular and has views of the lake and the ocean, a perfect spot for wedding ceremonies.


Coalcliff Beach – access via Lawrence Hargrave Drive

Coalcliff is a picturesque village perched on steeply sloping ground and sandwiched between the Pacific Ocean and the sheer cliffs of the Illawarra escarpment. Coalcliff Beach is a small beach edged by rock platforms, stunning for a beautiful beach wedding. It also has a grassed area overlooking the beach. Photographic opportunities are endless and your guests will be delighted with the setting and surroundings.


Wollongong Harbour 

Wollongong Harbour, also known as Belmore Basin, is situated 80km south of Sydney and boasts the most picturesque views on the edge of the Illawarra coastline. It is the only point on the east coast to have 2 lighthouses, being Wollongong Headland Lighthouse and the other being Wollongong Breakwater Lighthouse.


Shellharbour Beach

One of the most popular beaches in Shellharbour City is Shellharbour Beach. This clean sandy beach is patrolled during the summer months on the northern and southern ends. Facilities include showers, public amenities and parking.

Shellharbour North Beach is an east facing one kilometre long beach, lying between Barrack Point and the rocks at the base of the ridge on which Shellharbour Village. The beach is backed by a low vegetated fore dune, with a road behind.

The Shellharbour Surf Club is located here and offers surf club facilities. A Beach Wheelchair is provided at Shellharbour North beach for people with a disability or mobility impairment.


Austinmer Beach, Lawrence Hargrave Drive, Austinmer

Austinmer Beach is one of the more popular beaches north of Wollongong. The small 250m long beach is wedged between two low headlands and their extensive rock platforms. Two large rock pools are located on the southern rock platform and Norfolk Island pines back the length of the beach. It lies right next to Lawrence Hargraves Drive, with shops lining the western side and a large car park and park between the beach and the drive.


Thirroul Beach, The Esplanade, Thirroul

The beach is a prominent feature, as well as the backdrop of the 400 metre high escarpment. The beach is 1 kilometre long and backed by a large, grassy reserve, offering parking and the perfect area to have your Wollongong beach wedding. A large park also surrounds the now drained lagoon behind the northern end of the beach.


Sandon Point Beach, Point Street, Bulli

This pristine location is ideal for weddings, with a large reserve located right on the beach. Surrounded by bushland, this proves popular for those marrying.


Bulli Beach, Farrell Road, Bulli

This picturesque beach is 900 metres long, backed by sand dunes and a large parkland area ideal for family picnics and gatherings. The gateway to the magnificent natural environment is Bulli Beach and its picturesque villages, surf breaks and mountain top lookouts.

Whatever the season, you’ll marvel at the sights and sounds of the ever-changing face of the sea. At dusk, there’s nothing more peaceful than taking a quiet stroll along great stretches of soft, golden sand.


Bellambi Beach, Morgan Place, Bellambi

Bellambi Beach is at the southern end of a two kilometre stretch of beach and is backed by a reserve with distant mountain views. A stunning beach wedding location.

Bellambi is located seven kilometres north of the Wollongong central business district. Bellambi Beach continues south to the creek mouth and point, with a rock pool on the southern rocks. The Bellambi Surf Club is located behind the creek, and linked to the beach by a walkway.


Corrimal Beach, Lake Parade, Corrimal

Corrimal Beach is 1.4 kilometres long and backed by fenced sand dunes and grassy reserves.
This beach as it is long and private with a small lagoon. Corrimal is located six kilometres north of Wollongong’s central business district.


Towradgi Beach, Murranar Road, Towradgi

Towradgi Beach is a slightly curving 3.2 km long beach trending south of Towradgi Point to the low rocks on the south side of the small mouth of Fairy Creek. Towradgi Arm extends the full length of the beach and forms a small lagoon at the southern end, which breaks out against the southern rocks. There is a large car park next to the surf club, and on the point it shares the rock pool with Corrimal.


Fairy Meadow Beach, Elliotts Road, Fairy Meadow

A stunning beach wedding location, Fairy Meadow Beach offers fantastic views south to Wollongong with distant views of the two light houses and harbour.


Werri Beach, Gerringong

Werri is distinguished by having point breaks at both ends of the beach, and the town of Gerringong is one of the south coast’s loveliest.


Stanwell Park Beach & Reserve,

Stanwell Park Beach is located 26 kilometres north of the Wollongong central business district and is ideal for weddings with its beautiful beach and headland and large reserve located right on the beach. The reserve is very pretty and overlooks the creek and the beach with easy access car park and toilet facilities. This outlook provides several wonderful photo opportunities and is a perfect option to make your day a special one.


Coledale Beach & SLSC (Northern Beach to the village)

This stunning beach is beautifully sandwiched between the rolling blue surf of the pacific and the rolling green tree canopy of the Illawarra escarpment and is fringed by very fine rocky outcrops that protect the beach from the worst of the weather. The golden sands of Coldeale Beach makes for a gorgeous wedding location, with easy access to the car park. There is also a private grassed area on the southern side of the SLSC, for a more intimate setting, which has a beautiful view overlooking Coledale Beach.


Sharkey’s Beach (to the South of Coledale Beach)

Sharkey’s Beach has a lovely flat grassed area which is perfect for your wedding overlooking its sandy shores and striking rock pools. (Plentiful parking)


Stanwell Park – SLSC (Beach Road, Stanwell Park)

This beach is situated out the front of the SLSC and with its lovely grassy and beach settings, produces a charming wedding destination. (Small Car Park)


Stanwell Park Creek Reserve (situated just around the bend from the SLSC)

This lovely grassed reserve is very pretty and overlooks the creek and the beach. This outlook provides several wonderful photo opportunities and is a perfect option to make your day a special one. (Easy access car parking and toilet facilities)


Wombarra Rock Pool / Beach (Accessible from Reef Avenue – at the end of this street is an off-road car park)

One of Wombarra’s best kept secrets lies at the bottom of Reef Avenue (which runs east of Lawrence Hargrave Drive). On a rock platform with cliffs rising above, is an idyllic location for your wedding with stunning photos surrounding the rock platform. What an absolutely beautiful spot and hidden treasure.


Wombarra – Reef Avenue Park (Near Wombarra Pre-School)

This is a nice wedding spot with an open grassy park which overlooks Wombarra Beach and Rock Pools which offers a stunning backdrop for photos.


Wollongong Botanic Garden

The Wollongong Botanic Garden is located in the Wollongong suburb of Keiraville at the foot of Mount Keira. It is the local botanical gardens of the Illawarra and was opened in September 1970. Wollongong botanic gardens is a place of natural beauty and features many elegant, romantic and fragrant ceremony locations with beautiful photo opportunities. A few of the popular locations are; The Rose Garden, Temple Garden, Gazebo and Azalea Bank. Kiama – Surf Beach

Kiama Surf Beach – accessed off Manning Street is Kiama’s main beach and is where the sparkling blue waters of the Pacific Ocean beckon you from sunrise to sunset! It’s surrounded by parkland and is central to Kiama’s main shopping district, and is a lovely spot for a beach wedding.

Positioned on the headland is The Pavilion Kiama, which is a unique venue with extensive waterfront views and occupies picturesque Norfolk Pines and overlooks Kiama’s Surf Beach.


Kiama Lighthouse

Kiama Lighthouse situated on the round apex of Blowhole Point was established in 1887. As well as featuring the famous Kiama Blowhole, Blowhole Point also offers spectacular views along the coast and beautiful Norfolk pines which makes for a stunning backdrop for photos.  Kiama Lighthouse is an impressive option for your Kiama wedding ceremony. Gerroa Beach
Situated at the northern end of Seven Mile Beach and the head of Crooked River, is magnificent Gerroa Beach.  This spot is the locals’ little secret as it’s quite secluded and with just a short stroll over the Crooked River foot bridge, you’ll find pristine fine white sands, a truly magical spot for your tranquil barefoot beach wedding!
